Academic Programmes

With a vision to be a leading centre in producing professionals in the area of chemical engineering and technology, with the emphasis on best industrial practices and applications, FTKKP offers nine programmes covering multiple relevant areas. The main areas are chemical & process, pharmaceutical, petroleum, and oil & gas. The programmes implement a more practical-based curriculum. Students under these programmes are exposed to a more hands-on training throughout their study. FTKKP also has multiple connections with the relevant industries and institutions at the national and international levels.

What is outcome-based education (OBE)?

OBE is an educational process to achieve certain specified outcomes for student individual learning at the end of the study period. Curriculum structure is designed to achieve the qualities or capabilities that students should develop and achieve. Student-centred learning methods are used to implement OBE, focusing on measuring student performance or outcome. OBE addresses the following key components:

1. Curriculum design (What do you want the students to have or able to do after learning?)
2. Teaching and learning methods (How can you best help students to achieve it?)
3. Assessments (How will you know what they have achieved?)
4. Continual quality improvement, CQI (How do you close the loop?)
OBE implementation comprises the establishment of Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), followed by Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs), designing curriculum, teaching and learning (T&L) methods, assessment, CQI and monitoring.
